I love this Academy! The Wellington Elite Music Academy of the Arts is outstanding! My positive experience with them started from the very first lesson. The staff is great and the academy offers an inviting setting and calm atmosphere. My instructor, Ms. J. Crawford is simply the best teacher I've ever had! Her lessons, knowledge, experience, and guidance, have truly taken my piano playing and voice to the next level! The highest level! I have successfully completed my piano and voice courses with Ms. Joyce Crawford, and thank her for all her wonderful teaching! I am so happy with them, that I have signed up both kids with them! They are learning and progressing beautifully, and most importantly, love their lessons! Great location, nice staff, and amazing instructors! If you are really looking to learn voice and/or piano, and want top notch instruction for children or adults, this is definitely the place to go. The Wellington Elite Music Academy of the Arts, and Ms. J. Crawford are simply the best, and come highly recommended!

Hi! I'm Jessica Inna, 25 years old. I loved going to the Wellington Academy of the Arts for my piano and voice/singing lessons! That's right! I have had all 3, because they offer lesson combos! There, the staff is always kind and do their very best to assist you. I have gone there for in-studio lessons, and have noticed their instruments, and benches, are sanitized between students. The air, is sanitized/sprayed at different times of the day too! Just thought I would mention it, because I don't know of any other place that does that. I think that's great! In addition, one more thing I have always liked there, is that lessons are one-on- one (private), and when a student reserves a time for lessons, he/she get the studio for himself/herself. My piano/voice/singing instructor, Dr. Joyce Crawford, is AMAZING! I started taking lessons at 18, and had various instructors in the past; Because I simply didn't see much improvement/progress, even though I practiced the material they gave me daily, I kept moving on to a new instructor. I had decided to take a year break. I did. Then, about 3 years ago, when I turned 22, I decided to quickly do some research, and look for the very best instructor I could find. After a good amount research, I signed up for piano and voice/singing lessons with Ms. Joyce Crawford. I must say, it's been the best learning experience ever! She is enthusiastic, very knowledgeable, and knows exactly when to push and when to ease up. In addition, her lessons target all aspects of piano playing and singing, including technique and musicality. In singing/voice, she will give you her professional advice/knowledge, and teach you exactly, how to get the very best/most of your voice. She has always made me think, work, get excited about learning, and her lessons are a blast! She's kind, but firm. She is patient, but has expectations. Just what I needed to progress as productively & beautifully as I have. Today, I play the piano and sing so beautifully, that I started to do so professionally. I plan to continue to go back to her for lessons, for some musical/technique support/perfecting, during the beginning of my professional career in music. She's helped me get where I am today, and I'm truly thankful! As a recommendation, if anyone is looking to truly learn and succeed, I could not think of a better professional/instructor than her. I had various instructors over the years, Then, I found Joyce. Dr. Joyce Crawford is, by far, the best in the business! She comes highly recommended!

Dr. Joyce Crawford is an exceptional piano instructor and artist. I'm taking piano and voice lessons with her. She teaches music theory and all aspects of music along with both piano and voice lessons. That allows you to fully understand what you are playing and/or singing. The teaching program that she prepared specifically for me, has helped me to quickly be able to play the piano, sing, and read music. I am progressing quickly and very happy about it! Her teaching style and method are outstanding! Her positive attitude keps me motivated to practice every day. Dr. Joyce Crawford is very knowledgeable, kind, patient, friendly, and always encourages her students to improve. If you are looking for an amazing instructor, who will truly help you reach your musical goal, go ahead and choose Dr. Joyce Crawford. You will not waste your money or be disappointed. I highly recommend her!

FIRST LESSON

The first lesson will include a goal-focused, and short conversation between the instructor and the student/parent(s), and an evaluation - The objective here is to learn about the student's musical interests, passion, and goals. That short pre-lessons meeting will be followed by an evaluation of the student's understanding of music, depending on what lesson (s) they chose. Choices: Piano, Keyboard, Piano and Voice (Simultaneously), Keyboard and Voice (Simultaneously), Piano and Music theory (Simultaneously), Voice, Singing, voice/singing, Voice/Musical Theatre, Marimba, Flute (baroque), Music Theory, and Music (general), and the remaining time will be the student's first lesson. For the student who is new, and never had lessons before, we start with the basic essentials, and quickly advance from there. The objective here is to secure a strong foundation in an easy way, For the student who has had lessons previously, the student will be asked to either sing, or play a short stretch of a  piece of his/her choice, so that the instructor can observe and pinpoint the student's knowledge and understanding  of music (including notes, symbols, and nomenclature). This allows the instructor the opportunity to make recommendations and specially tailor future lessons to each individual student. Students differ from each other, therefore, lessons must be prepared to each individual student, in order to guarantee successful learning and progress. Our lessons are NEVER cookie cutter. They are specifically tailored with each particular student in mind.

Great lesson values are being offered at this time. Call soon to reserve your lessons! We would be delighted to work with you, and assisnt you in reaching your ultimate musical goal!

How did you get started teaching?

We would like to stat by stating that ALL our instructors have extensive musical education and teaching experience in every subject (area) they work in. Instructors have M.M., DMA, and PhD degrees, and over 28 year of teaching experience. Our instructors have either grown up in very musical families, and were introduced to music at an early age, and as they grew up, they became more involved with music and learning music - Therefore, they understand what it is like to learn an instrument and music at a very early age. The music experience that our instructors have aquired throughout the years, has allowed them to learn how important, valuable, and enriching music truly is in each person's life. They own ongoing musically involved and fulfilling lives, have inspired our instructors to follow this beautiful, gratifying, and exciting career! Music is a gift that lasts a lifetime!

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

We worked with a student who's desire was to audition at Bak Middle School of The Arts. We are proud to say that she was also accepted. To this date, we have taught and prepared a large number of students to audition to Bak Middle School of The Arts, Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and others who wished to audition at The Juilliard School.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

It would be essential to look for an experienced, knowledgeable, and high qualified instructor, who is truly dedicated towards helping students reach their highest musical potential, and who understands the importance of specifically formulating lessons to each individual student, with the student's musical needs and goals in mind. That instructor should also be able to identify what material should be given for practice that would absolutely aid in the student's fast progress, always keeping in mind to make the learning material interesting. The potential student should not only look for an instructor who is highlymexperienced, but also, who offers one-on-one private lessons. Private one-on-one lessons, will require the instructor's attention to be 100% directed to one particular student - The student will have the undivided attention of a qualified and experienced instructor, which will absolutely aid in the student's steady progress.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

When ready to look for an instructor, costumers should identify what their musical goal is, and how committed they are towards taking lessons and reaching their goal. That is not only important information to the costumer, but also very valuable information to the new instructor. Next, costumers should think of a few questions that should be directed towards the instructor, for example, total years of teaching experience, their qualifications/education in the field, how important the student's musical goal is to the instructor, and if lessons are one-on-one, private lessons. Costumer's should always keep in mind that private lessons that are given in person, are not only easier for the student to understand, but also direct the instructor's full attention towards one student, and allow the teacher to successfully correct posture, hand position, etc. Finally, make sure to ask about the instructor's lesson rates.
