Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New students begin with an initial interview where I explain what/how I teach, what I expect in the way of practice, what my students can expect from me and what benefits the parents can expect as a result of having their children study with me.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 for 1/2 hour, $45 for 45 minutes, $60 for 1 hour of instruction
How did you get started teaching?
My mother was my first piano teacher, so I was trained by the best. I've been playing the piano since age 3 and began teaching piano to beginners at age 14. I've been teaching for over 30 years, so I have lots of experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students range in age from 4 years to nearly 80 years old. My students range from beginners to highly advanced.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask lots of questions - especially about things like theory and technique. If a teacher doesn't teach these things, keep looking. Ask about their education. If a teacher doesn't have a degree or two in music, keep looking.
