Always find a teacher that is trained in pedagogy as they will know what to do with the student and how to properly teach them without doing harm physically from using their hands and arms improperly.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The student should have some idea of goals that they wish to accomplish as well as knowing that one cannot learn to play unless you are willing to put in practice time each and everyday.
I always ask what kind of music are they wishing to play.
