About
I've been teaching piano for 10+ years and am a graduate of some of the top piano departments in the world. Please view some of my performances on YouTube Through! Through my studies at Conservatory, I of course mastered how to play but was also gifted ample time with master teachers that instructed my piano pedagogy. This greatly influences my teaching and drives my philosophy of building agency in my clients. I train and equip my clients with the skills to play their hearts out, overcome any technical challenges, and create their own musical identities. Being a professional pianist, I dedicated 8 hours a day to practice for a decade. I realize that for many, the piano is a hobby, pastime, or therapeutic tool so I give my clients the power to direct their study track if they wish!
I design, and constantly update, flexible learning paths that allow students to progress in ways that are important for them! For example, my virtuoso learning path is rigorous and broad in its scope; encompassing ear-training, technique, harmony, sight-reading, and much more.
In all levels, critical areas like technique, theory, musicality, and so on are touched on in every lesson in a variety of ways to ensure holistic development.
For New and Beginners,
I incorporate many well-known methods (Faber, Hal Leonard, Alfred, etc.) along with well-researched supplemental materials to ensure my beginner students are well-versed in the fundamentals.
For New and Intermediates,
My Intermediate students learn effective practice methods that save them practice time and quickens their learning time. At this level, we begin to use theory/harmony as a practical tool and not as a separate entity. We utilize technique in the same manner! At this level, students learn to find ways to express their musical ideas through tone, rhythm, and interpretive reasoning/ critical thinking.
For New and Advanced
My advanced students build on all previously learned topics in a challenging and deeply rewarding manner. Like an artist, my advanced students learn to utilize tone, color, textures, and nuanced pianistic techniques to craft their repertoire. Through delving deep into curated technical etudes and pieces, my advanced students critically engage with the score on an undergraduate level.
My previous students have competed in local, national, and international competitions in addition to receiving high marks on musical exams. Previous students have learned songwriting, composition, and improvise - but my proudest achievement as a teacher is that my students HAVE FUN.
Music in my studio ranges from Beethoven to Billie Eilish, Hamilton to Liszt, and Davis to Dr. Dre...
The piano is the driving force in my life. Creating, sharing, and performing music fills me with a deep sense of joy and gratitude. The piano is the canvas upon which my soul and imagination paint. Through teaching, I am able to share my love of music with others.
Specifically, there are moments when you witness a student expand their conception of music, or the capabilities of the piano, right in a lesson, and those moments remind me just how incredible teaching is!
Seeing my clients shape their musical identities' brings me incredible joy and I am always honoured to be a part of their progress!

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I perform frequently and always manage a teaching studio. I graduated from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Syracuse University, and Interlochen Arts Academy with a focus on Piano Performance, Pedagogy, and Collaborative piano.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do have a standard rate that is flexible if legitimately needed. My fee is $1 per minute. Keep in mind that this lesson fee does not cover the hours of prep, research, and planning that goes into each lesson.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was recently a part of a concert series produced by the Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra. Given the limitations of live performance due to Covid 19, the series is presented entirely remote.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions! If you are unsure what to ask, ask anyway. How a teacher reacts to questions is a huge indicator of weather they will be a good fit!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I feel that students should have a rough estimate of how much time they will commit to practice outside of lessons. It will likely change in the future but having this initial data helps teachers pace the first few lessons.
