Buckhead Strings
About
I specialize in teaching beginning violin, viola and cello to students between the age of 3rd and 5th grade. I also provide the instrument to the student as part of the lesson price, if desired.
As well, I especially enjoy teaching students preparing for auditions for orchestras in middle and high school.
I enjoy making a connection with each and every student, sparking a life long love of string music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to talk with student and parent about what their goals are for their chosen instrument. For younger students I make an effort to connect with what got them interested in the first place. I have had students motivated to learn by just hearing one song (that we of course learn as soon as we can!), and others who were just curious about which instrument feels the most like "home" and go from there. Above all, we start first with the interest, and continue with the fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in viola performance from Texas Christian University, and have studied viola at the graduate level at the prestigious Indiana University. I have played professionally in California, Texas, Indiana, and Georgia, and I have over 20 years of teaching experience. As well, since 2016 I have owned a business that employs music educators to teach afterschool strings in area schools in Atlanta, Georgia.
