Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin with getting to know the student and their desires as well as make a connection with the parent/guardian if the student is younger.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Science in Music Education
How did you get started teaching?
When I was a child music offered me a way to express myself and deal with some termoil so I wanted to be able to offer that love of music that was shared with me to others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with children from elementary to high school as well as adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have recently put my house on the market and will be taking my family on the road to explore the country. This will allow me to be able to not only include my past experience to my teaching but also be able to bring in new ones that will help shape myself as well as my students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't expect perfection immediately. Music is a process and it will take time and dedication to progress.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why music? Why did you choose the instrument you did? What do you want to accomplish with this instrument?
