Scragg Music Lessons
About
Through my 13 years of experience, I have grown to love and appreciate music, as well as all it can do. In college I majored in Music Therapy, so I bring with me not only my musical knowledge but also my knowledge of practical applications of music. I thoroughly enjoy helping others reach their goals in the manner that best suits their learning style.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I like to see what they can already do and discuss their previous experience. I typically ask about what style of music they enjoy playing and what they have played, as well as assessing their knowledge of scales and music theory. I usually assign a warmup that includes a scale, a music theory worksheet, and a few pieces in different style for the student to work on in between lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing piano for 13 years and was a Music Therapy major in college, with my major instrument being piano. I have performed both a junior and a senior recital in the completion of my degree.
I have been playing guitar for six years and received instruction on the instrument while at college.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My typical pricing system for lessons is $30/hour for piano and $25/hour for guitar. I usually prefer to stick to hour long lessons but can accommodate half hour or 45 minute lessons if your schedule does not allow it.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching piano lessons when a friend of mine passed her more advanced students on to me as their skill levels had surpassed what she felt comfortable teaching. I found a lot of joy in teaching and enjoyed helping students on their musical journey.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have primarily worked with teenage students but I am welcome to teaching students of any age.
