Alex was extremely patient and kind when teaching me. I only had the opportunity to work with her for a few weeks but I learned so much. I took what she taught me and started integrating it into my own playing and it’s made a huge difference. Thank you so much, Alex!

Ms. Sjobeck is very patient and able to adapt to her students. I studied with her for a year and also got to see other students work with her and she always had a way of getting each student to accomplish their goals. I think when you look for a teacher, you really are looking for someone to teach you how to learn. So many teachers tell you something or tell you what to do but never help you develop a skillset. Alex is different in that she absolutely focuses on developing a fundamental process so that each student not only learns but knows how to learn. As a result, there is progress I can see immediately, of course, but also years down the road. If youre looking for a teacher seriously, consider someone who will make a lasting impact and will make you a better overall person— not just tell you to do something and move on. Alex is a teacher who, regardless if you pursue music, you will come out better because of her teachings. Highly recommend!

    Frequently asked questions

I strive to help students meet their individual goals and guide them to set goals.  Teaching students what there are interested in is of utmost importance to me and shows the most success and progress.  These interests also need to be mixed with the basics such as technique and theory which aid in every aspect of their musical journey.

I have been teaching private lessons for nearly a decade, have taught collegiate ensemble, workshop, and private lesson classes, have taught classes at after school programs, have substitute taught classes at private performing arts schools, and have taught masterclasses and workshops across the United States.

I have worked with a wide variety of students from young children to adults of all levels.

Hiring a qualified teacher is very important in the success of a student.  Having a teacher who is teaching the correct way will easily put students ahead.  It is also important to find a teacher that helps to inspire a student and spark their interest.  I recommend looking for a teacher who has had musical training in college resulting in them having knowledge of how to teach in the most advantageous way.
