Piano teaching has been my passion for more than 25 years. I've been teaching students of various levels and ages using a specific method of combining Russian piano school elements and American piano pedagogical methods. I adapt my teaching method to each student depending on his/her level and skills. Each student usually receives one lesson per week - either 30, 45 or 60 min. Most students participate at the local competitions and perform at the recital once a year.
After moving from Russia to USA I continued my professional development, graduating from the Manhattan school of Music (MM, 2001 and Professional Studies Diploma, 2002) and from Northwestern university Bienen School of Music (Doctor of Music in Piano Performance 2012). Currently, I am on the faculty at the Merit School of Music in Chicago and hold position of the Piano Department Chair. For more information please visit my website at:

I enjoy working with students at all levels and take pride in their accomplishment. Each student has a variety skills and talents hidden inside and it is always fascinating to uncover all those abilities and teach students how to use it during the lesson, practice session, performance or competition.
Our daughter, Ella, started taking piano lessons with Elena Doubovitskaya in 2013 at the age of 5. Ella had never played before and had very little music instruction prior to finding Ms Elena. Elena started Ella off with an annual recital right from the beginning to get her used to playing in front of an audience and showcasing her skills. Over the past 2 years she has added piano competitions to Ella’s list of accomplishments where she has always scored high marks. We have taken great pride watching Ella grow in her musical abilities. I think it is extraordinary to find an instructor as accomplished as Ms Elena is, but humble and patient enough to teach from the beginner level and take that student as far as they would like to go with the instrument. We could not have asked for a more talented, professional teacher for our daughter. We look forward seeing Elena continue to teach and challenge Ella for years to come.
Mrs. Doubovitskaya is a great teacher. She has attention to details and listens to the needs of all her students! My daughter know how to read notes correctly and plays music because of her! Highly experienced teacher and musician.
My 10 year old has been taking lessons from Miss Elena since 2017. She is a great teacher, strict, yet patient. Having my daughter compete in certain Illinois recitals gives her the motivation she needs and is a fun goal for her!
