What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson is about getting to know the background, ability, and interests of the student. If they've never played before, I get them set up well enough to actually play a song in their very first session! I then start piecing together a longer term lesson plan and begin assigning home practice goals that build on each other as the weeks progress.
