Ivana Bukvich, Piano , Accompaniment And Musicianship Classes
About
I have been playing piano and accompanying students and choirs since the age of 5, and was lucky to receive a very substantial, classically based training as a child, for ten years, after which I entered Conservatory in Belgrade, Serbia, to study piano performance with Arbo Waldman.I was a Teaching Assistant during that time as well as when I arrived in Indiana University to study with Alexander Toradze. After completing M.M., I was teaching in Chicago, at Columbia College, Sherwood Music School, where I was Head of Piano Department for ten years, involved in all stages of student development.I always loved performing and discovered a true passion for teaching.I have the desire to help each student find joy in music making in the way that fits their lives and abilities and feel that teaching is responsibility and privilege. In Chicago, I have studied with CSO principal pianist, Mary Sauer.Currently, I am a Full-time Faculty member at UIC, and maintain a piano studio at Fine Arts building. Some of my students take Music Development Program Exams, participate in CAMTA's festivals and competitions, others play for enrichment, or work toward specific performances goals, or take lessons in piano and theory to compliment singing or string lessons. Most of my students think that I am easy to talk to and a nurturing and supportive teacher.
