I am a long time professional musician located in Chicago. I have studied with Herman Shapiro at DePaul University and Malcolm Hamilton at USC in Los Angeles. I am presently a school Music Teacher for PreK through 8th grade.
It is a joy to teach! I love sharing my passion for music and piano with these “little Mozart’s!” It is amazing to see students grow week by week under my tutelage. It’s a relationship, and learning is easy in a “one on one” experience. I currently have 20 students in my studio. We have a yearly recital in the Spring where each student can show their talents and what they have learned throughout the year. Students range in age from 7 years to 15, though I also have 3 adult learners.
As an adult student, Scott is completely in touch with my needs, motivating and encouraging me dispite my busy work schedule. I've had the pleasure of working with Scott for several years now and can highly recommend him as an instructor!
As an adult student not having ANY knowledge or experience with reading music, I really appreciated Scott’s patience and very supportive approach. He always made me feel good about my progress..made learning fun and most importantly, because of him, I never felt like giving up. He’s an awesome instructor!!
Scott is super talented and great with kids. His love and passion for music is inspiring and he is very motivating for the kids to improve. He has a great ability to see the strengths in each child and play to those strengths in the lessons. My daughter excelled while taking piano and voice lessons from Scott and he gave my son a love and appreciation for music when he initially wasn’t even interested in lessons. Scott is kind, patient and has a great sense of humor. He is reliable and trustworthy and I would recommend him to any family looking for quality piano and voice lessons.
Scott is an exceptional teacher. He brings his well-honed skills as an educator and his buoyant personality to provide a piano student a truly unique experience of studying music. As an elementary school music teacher Scott understands methods of teaching and is able to present lessons at the appropriate developmental level for each child. He relies upon solid pedagogy to support children in building their proficiency while simultaneously weaving strategies of motivation and focus. Errors are handled gracefully and correction is positive, patient, and encouraging. The child’s confidence and emotional well-being are just as important to the lesson as learning the music. From this safe and secure base music takes root. Scott’s enthusiasm is contagious and his laughter is music that will echo in your home for years to come.
