Sandermusic

Over the past decade, Isaiah Sanderman. has played in countless classical, jazz, and modern ensembles on multiple saxophones. In high school, he performed in musicals, led the saxophone section in marching band, and was the top saxophonist in the classical and jazz ensembles. He was also the student-director of the school's freshman band, a role in which he learned a great deal about the art and science of teaching. Graduating with recognition as an Honors All-State musician, along with the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and John Phillip Sousa Band Award, his path as a professional was set.

Presently enrolled at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts, Mr. Sanderman studies and performes music of the highest caliber. Playing flute and saxophone in the school's Large Jazz Ensemble and Brazilian Combo, he has been the youngest and most-featured soloist under the direction of world-class pianist Marshall Vente and world-class guitarist Paulinho Garcia.

Outside of academia, Mr. Sanderman has had the privilege of performing with Zoofunkyou and leading the pop/funk horn section in Minor 9ths to sold out shows at House of Blues and other local venues.

Mr. Sanderman also explores his interest of the art of practice on his website, CollegePracticing.com, where he has interviewed numerous college students on their practice habits, as well as working professionals with degrees from such esteemed institutions as Berklee College of Music, Indiana University, and Northwestern University.

The best part of my job is that I get to guide aspiring musicians's through their musical journey, and all kinds of talents, emotions, and incredible moments emerge in my lessons. I try to make music as fun for my students as it is for me while incorporating best practices for music literacy and technique.
