Fusun Alpakin, M.M.
Violin • Viola • Piano Instructor
Fusun Alpakin is a professional violinist, violist, pianist, and educator with more than four decades of teaching and performing experience in the United States, Europe, and Türkiye. She holds a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and has dedicated her career to inspiring students of all ages to discover confidence, creativity, and lifelong joy through music.
Throughout her career, Fusun has taught violin, viola, piano, chamber music, and music theory to students ranging from three years old through adulthood, from complete beginners to advanced performers preparing for auditions, competitions, recitals, and college music programs. As a Suzuki-certified instructor, she believes every student can develop musical ability in a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment.
In addition to private teaching, Fusun founded and served as Executive and Artistic Director of Southport Performing Arts Conservatory in Chicago for nearly two decades, where she developed innovative music, dance, and theatre programs while producing numerous concerts, musicals, festivals, and community arts events. She has also served as Director of the Music Department at the School of Performing Arts in Naperville and currently teaches as a Substitute Music Instructor at Moravian Academy in Pennsylvania.
Fusun is the founder of the Artisan Hub School of Arts.
Her professional performance career includes the Civic Orchestra of Chicago under the direction of Daniel Barenboim , the New Philharmonic Orchestra, and nearly a decade as Assistant Concertmistress of the Istanbul State Opera & Ballet Orchestra. These experiences continue to enrich her teaching by helping students develop strong technique, expressive musicianship, and professional performance skills.
Fusun is passionate about helping every student reach their individual potential while making music a meaningful part of everyday life. Whether a student dreams of performing professionally or simply wants to enjoy making music, she strives to create lessons that are engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s unique goals and learning style.
