My goal as a teacher is to make music a companion to you for the rest of your life. Simply Music's playing-based approach to piano temporarily suspends reading music until you've developed your playing skills at the keyboard by playing a wide variety of musical styles. Yep, that means you can say goodbye to sight-reading 'mary had a little lamb', and instead, start playing great sounding music in classical, blues, jazz, contemporary, and accompaniment styles from your first lessons! Once you've mastered some playing skills, I introduce you to reading music in a healthy way and through a rewarding process that is not intimidating at all!
Additionally, improvisation and composition are encouraged and developed, so that you can be free to express yourself at the piano!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We have a free introductory meeting where we speak about their desires, goals, etc., and I express what I offer as a teacher and introduce them to my style of teaching.
