Hello! I’m Soo Kang, a dedicated music educator with a Master’s degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a Music Endorsement for K-12. Since 2001, I have had the privilege of helping students of all ages experience the transformative power of music. My focus is on inspiring students to reach their full potential, build confidence, and express themselves through music.

Throughout my career, my students have achieved exceptional success, including winning prestigious competitions and pursuing music degrees at leading universities. Beyond musical achievement, they have developed life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the understanding that each student is unique. I tailor my approach to nurture their individual strengths, address challenges, and guide them in discovering their unique musical abilities. While I place significant emphasis on technical proficiency, I also focus on fostering creativity, self-expression, and confidence—empowering students to connect meaningfully with the music they love.

I believe that music is not only a discipline but also a powerful tool for personal growth. I create a supportive, inspiring environment where students are encouraged to take risks, overcome challenges, and celebrate their progress. Whether mastering classical works or exploring contemporary pieces, I encourage students to pursue the music they are passionate about, fostering discipline, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

In addition to technical skill, I prioritize building character and confidence. Through their musical journey, students develop essential life skills such as self-discipline, perseverance, and problem-solving that will serve them in all areas of life.
