About

John N. Booth began a lifetime association with music at an early age, as an avid listener. Although his serious music study didn’t begin until the age of fourteen, when spurred on by his desire to compose, he taught himself to read and write music, and began piano lessons with an uncle who was a church organist. Shortly thereafter, he began studying violin at the New York College of Music, and later had private lessons with a member of the National Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Booth went on to play professionally in orchestras in New York and New Jersey, while composing and maintaining an active teaching schedule, offering instruction in violin, viola, and piano, and performing with a chamber music group which he founded.

Mr. Booth is an active member of the Music Teachers’ National Association, and as an accredited teacher of the Suzuki approach, conducts recitals and group classes for his students.

He has taught for over thirty-five years, and his excitement about teaching has never changed. He says, “My aim has always been to help students become well rounded musicians, by weaving music theory, history, and other elements into lessons, as well as basic instrumental technique.”
