I have studied violin for almost 13 years now, studied Japanese for 5 years, and am a native English speaker. I will be majoring in Violin performance and Japanese in college, and hope to pursue a career which will allow me to utilize both skills.I play for two professional symphonies, a university symphonic orchestra, and have been the concertmistress of two orchestras. I have performed as a soloist for all of my violin career, and also have many years of chamber music experience. I adore show tunes, so I also jump at any opportunity to perform for musicals! I have experience teaching, with rapid, noticeable results, and I get along well with people! Watching a student's skills develop is a thrill and an honor to me.I have competed in my state's Japanese Olympiad competition at every opportunity, and won the state competitionship with my team for all three years. I had a Japanese exchange student staying with me for 10 days, and then another throughout this whole school year. It is very rare for me to converse with my teacher in anything but Japanese, so I have a lot of practice in speaking. I can also assist in learning hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji! I have a good understanding of culture as well as some history, for students interested in those subjects!
