Berryman Music
About
Piano? I can get you started. Band? Yes, I help help there also. I graduated in 1987 with a degree in music education Kindergarten through 12, and I have been teaching instrumental and vocal music privately and in school settings ever since. I have been building a professional network with other teachers in the area, and would be delighted to talk with you about meeting your musical goals, either with me or with another colleague. Let's talk!
My greatest joy is assisting students to become musicians, confident of their skills and enthusiastic about communicating through music. I don't expect all my students to excel as soloists, but I believe personal skill in music often leads to a lifelong enjoyment of music. I also know from research that experience with music means better communication skills, even if the lessons only last a couple of years.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I am approached for lessons, I take a little time to get to know you. What draws you to music? What are your goals? How do you learn best? What other interests do you have? Then I'll ask you to play a little for me. Don't worry if you don't play yet--I will play a few notes and ask you to copy what you see and hear. It is that easy! And if we both decide that yes, this is a good fit, I will give you choices about what music we will use next.
