Norma Brunner Piano Studio
About
I have been teaching piano lessons for over 50 years. My passion is to tailor the lessons to the desires of my students. I have had students who are interested in pursuing a career in music and others who just want to learn to play a few songs to impress their friends! But, I hope to make the experience as enjoyable and satisfying as possible.
I have taught students who are young beginners who have yet to be introduced to the mysteries of reading music and I have taught college students who are music majors preparing for their senior recitals.
I began teaching in my home as a teenager back in Iowa. After graduating from Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska (B.S.Mus.) and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska (M.Mus. in Performance), I began teaching at the college level: Grace University, Omaha, NE, Cairn University, Philadelphia, PA and Gordon College, Wenham, MA. Through the years of teaching at the college level and raising my family, I always continued a small private studio in my home as well. After retiring from Gordon College Music Department in 2013, I have been teaching at a private school - (Brookwood School, Manchester by the Sea, MA) and also traveling to my students' homes or teaching in my home.
I have always enjoyed being a part of the music ministry of the churches I have attended through the years. I have worked in churches as organist, pianist, choir director and choir member. I was part of the music ministry at Park Street Church in Boston for over 20 years. Right now, I am directing the choir at First Baptist Church, Arlington, MA.
