Claudia Keyian holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. She has been a piano teacher for over 30 years, and has garnered much success. Several of Claudia's former students have gone on to become professional musicians themselves. Claudia focuses on music literacy; much time is spent learning to read music. When students can play well, they can play any ytpe of music they like! Claudia specializes in teaching Classical music, and has been successful with beginners, those preparing for college auditions, and everyone in between. There are several performance opportunities each year.
I love when a student really plays musically. Being able to "tell a story" or convey an emotion or feeling through music is a special gift to share with others. .

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically start with a complimentary lesson. This gives the potential student a chance to get to know me, and to see my teaching style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, with a major in piano, minors in both organ and voice, and a concentration in choral conducting. I have over 30 years of experience as a piano teacher, and also work for 5 churches as organist/pianist/music director and vocal soloist. Through Newburyport Youth Services, I teach music classes to toddlers and pre-school aged children and their care-givers.
