About

Hello! I’m Sarah Moughan, a multi-instrumentalist by trade and a music geek by birth. I have been singing for about 22 years (although if you ask my family I started the day I was born and never stopped). I recieved my bachelor’s in music with a focus on voice in 2015 from UMass Boston and have 6 years of teaching experience in various areas of music, from theory to application.

If you are looking for someone to help you find your voice, whether through your own vocals or a different instrument, you’ve found the right person. I teach remotely from my home studio, so if you have an internet connection, it’s as easy as signing on and being ready to learn.

I love being able to teach students how to create music healthily and with ease. When students find themselves understanding concepts and picking harder pieces to challenge themsleves is the most wonderful thing to experience. I also love being introduced to new music through the suggestions of my students!

Frequently asked questions

I like to have the first lesson work as a "meet and greet." I can get to know you and your experience with music, along with music you like, and you can get to know a little about me and what I do, as well as play around with our instrument, whether that be trying a piano activity, playing the individual ukulele strings or singing a song. After that, I start with some basics to begin you on your way and begin to build a curriculum for your level and interests, and adjust to your comfort.

private music lessons from age 10, actice participation in theatre and music departments through out grade school and college, numerous professional productions, a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and 6 years teaching experience.

I charge monthly, based on how many lessons you will recieve in a month(i.e if one month has 4 mondays and your lesson is on that day, you'll be charged for 4 lessons, if one month has 5, you'll be charged for 5.) This also takes into account for days scheduled ahead where I have a conference or scheduled vacation so that you don't end up paying for a lesson you won't have the option of attending.

I charge $25 per half hour, $37 for 45 minutes, and only $45 for a full hour.

I began as an assistant director in several projects including a college a capella group and community children's choir, and moved to tutoring music theory and sight singing in college. After college I began teaching in 2016 and have never looked back.

I have worked with students as young as 4 and as old as 72, as well as those with learning disabilities, difficulty hearing and seeing, as well as professionals recovering from surgery and those dealing with physical injuries that affect the voice.

I participate in a choir whom has been unable to rehearse and perform due to the Covid-19 pandemic; most of our members are older and are high risk for exposure, so to keep our music ministry going, my choir director and I have been performing for every virtual church service provided by our church, because we put in protocols to keep each other protected from our particulate as well as keeping non essential exposure to a minimum. We have been able experiment with so much different music and stylings, and the joy it brings my congregation is the most wonderful feeling.

Look for someone who makes your body and your voice feel good while you sing, someone with experience; we all know that. But it is just as important to find a teacher whose personality meshes with yours. You can find the most perfectly technical teacher but be miserable because you just don't get along with their personality and it hurts you almost as much as a nice teacher with no experience. Listen to your body and also your intuition.
