Piano Lessons
About
I'm an older piano teacher with a studio in my home in Bolton. Your daughter is at an excellent age to learn quickly. Even though I have been teaching for many years, I am always excited when I meet a new student. I take July off for a summer break, but will resume with those interested in August.
I have 2 piano "parties" at my house, in November and March, where students can play musical games (musical chairs), and perform and listen to each other. No adults are invited. In June there is a recital at a local church where family members and friends may attend and appreciate the musical progress.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I try to discover what the student's goals are. I usually ask if he (she) would like to play something for me, or has music that he (she) would like to learn. If it seems appropriate I play prospective music for the student so that they have a better idea of what it sounds like and what techniques are involved. Then I usually have the student try the piece, perhaps hands separately and then together. Depending on the level of the student, I might do some theory work or scales, chords and inversions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors in Music from Clark University, and a diploma from the University of Western Ontario.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 for a 45 minute lesson
How did you get started teaching?
I studied piano from age 4 through high school, then became a registered nurse. After my 3rd child was born I decided I didn't want to continue in nursing, but wanted to pursue music. I went back to school at Clark University in Worcester, MA, and began teaching after graduation. I continue to be excited with each new student
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had students from age 5- 70. Occasionally I have had special needs students. Some students have become teachers and used their music education. A few have majored in music in college.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have a "piano party" at my house in November and March, when students play musical games and their favorite pieces for each other. But my favorite event usually is, and was last May, the end of the year recital when students perform for their friends and family at the local church. The talent stretches from 5 year olds to students graduating from high school. My graduating senior this past year not only performed beautiful classical music, but improvised in classical style. Everyone loved his music!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
