Music Lessons
About
I am a kind amd caring teacher. I pay especially close attention to good form as in hand position, etc. To ensure student success, I try to get the family involved (as appropriate) to provide the structure at home for good practice times and a good time for the lesson.
I just love working with the students, figuring out how to help them with their challenges; every student has different strengths and weaknesses but I want them to feel safe, respected, and respectful in the learning situation. I try to enrich the lesson as possible when the music contains references. For example, if a child is playing a song called "Spinning Wheel" and they have never seen a spinning wheel, we find a YouTube video of someone spinning, so they know what the reference is. If the piece is based on an orchestra piece or a song or dance, I show or play a bit of the original for them, teach them a couple of the dance steps, etc., so the learning is not in a vacuum. We do recitals twice a year at nursing homes for performance experience.
