As a former player, coach, and current skills trainer, my goal is to turn a player's weaknesses into their strengths. Developing camaraderie, building confidence, and improving flexibility are also a few areas of development that are included in my sessions. In 2011, I was the Lead Trainer and Site Manager for Findaballer, Inc. After 3 years, I went into business for myself. I started Varsity for the Central Dauphin Boys' Basketball team from 2002-2006. Then went on to play for the Neumann Knights at Neumann University from 2006-2008. If you'd like to get an idea of what it's like to train with me, please message me directly or visit my Inst...

Mark P. says, "George is a patient professional. He knows his stuff and communicates small steps to improve your game. Nothing fancy like you see on the internet. It’s all tips that you can use on your own. He is a big believer on taking practice swings at home. I took 5 lessons and feel so much better about my game. Finally, he is not a “clock watcher”; he wanted to make sure what he is teaching sinks, even if it takes extra time." Read more

Srini M. says, "I love the personal attention that Craig provides me whether it be with performing the exercises with proper form and technique or with sports such as basketball concentrating on the basics of the sports with various drills. I have been working with Craig for nearly 10 years, and while he has his own way of challenging a client while meeting their desired goals, he also makes it very fun and for the client wanting to come back for more. His HITT classes are amazing and is by far one of the group classes that everyone raves about. Not only does Craig provide the proper training and exercise regiments, he is extremely knowledgeable about nutrition. Working with Craig for over 10 years, I not only lost over 50 lbs, but also have been able to maintain the weight loss. In addition, I feel much stronger and healthier than I ever did in my adulthood. Craig is an excellent trainer!!!" Read more

You have to love what you do. Once you're a Boxer, you're always a Boxer, because Boxing is a mental sport; 90% mental/10% physical, so you take it with you everywhere in life you go. The world is a Boxing ring. When you're able to make people see that and understand that, they apply it to every day life. If I could tell them anything as it applies to Boxing inside of the ring, my philosophy is pretty-much the same as Bruce Lee's "Be water my friend." I fought as a decorated National Amateur Boxer for 10 years and also as a professional until injuries ended my career before it really got started, so I bring 28 years of ring experience and Box...

How much do fitness classes cost near me?

  • Planet Fitness costs $10 to $25 per month and includes unlimited access to small group classes.
  • Anytime Fitness costs $43 to $50 per month and includes unlimited access to small group classes.
  • Orangetheory Fitness costs $15 to $20 per class or $179 per month for unlimited classes.

  • YMCA membership costs $52 to $60 per month for one adult or $86 to $119 per month for a family and includes unlimited access to a wide variety of fitness classes.

How much do online fitness classes cost?

Online fitness classes cost $10 to $50 per month on average. The monthly subscription fee typically gives you unlimited access to prerecorded classes available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some subscriptions, like Peloton, also include online access to interactive live-streamed classes.

Can I use my HSA to pay for fitness classes?

You can only use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for fitness classes if your physician or nurse practitioner prescribes an exercise regimen for a specific medical condition.

Your physician must write a letter of medical necessity (LMN) confirming the classes are intended to treat or prevent a medical condition, and you must provide a copy of the letter to the IRS when filing your taxes. The LMN is typically good for one year from the date it's signed. However, your physician may recommend a shorter duration.

Does Planet Fitness or Anytime Fitness have group classes?

Yes, Planet Fitness and Anytime Fitness both offer group fitness classes led by certified personal trainers. Classes at both gyms are limited to small groups to allow the trainer to provide direct coaching as needed. Most franchise locations offer these classes 10 to 14 times per day, and members can attend unlimited classes.

What kind of fitness classes are available?

Group fitness classes are available in a wide variety of styles, making it easy to find one that best suits your needs. Popular class options include:

  • Cardio
  • Cycling / spinning
  • Dance
  • Kickboxing
  • Pilates
  • Yoga
  • CrossFit
  • Ballet / barre
  • Zumba
  • Water fitness
  • Strength training, including bodyweight workouts and weightlifting classes

How do I choose the best fitness class near me?

When choosing a fitness class, first decide on your goals for the class. Are you looking to improve your cardio health, strength, endurance, mobility, or all of the above? Once you have an idea of your goals in mind, follow these tips:

  • Check out the classes available in your area to see which style most appeals to you.
  • Ask for recommendations from friends, family, and your medical provider.
  • Read the class and instructor reviews on Lessons and Google.
  • Get a day pass or take a free trial class at the gym or studio.
  • Don't sign a monthly or annual contract until you've taken a free class.

What questions should I ask about fitness classes before joining?

When evaluating a gym or fitness studio, ask these questions to help you find the best fitness class for you:

  • What is the class schedule?
  • Do you charge by the class or by the month?
  • How many classes per month does the membership plan include?
  • Do you require members to subscribe for a minimum number of months or an annual plan?
  • Do you offer a free trial class or day pass?
  • Are your class instructors also certified personal trainers?
  • How many people are in a typical class?
  • Are there any rules about what to wear to the class?
  • Will I need to bring any equipment, like a yoga mat or towel?

Reviews for Baltimore fitness classes

Recent success stories from people in the Baltimore area.

George is an amazing teacher, who employs a simple yet very effective approach. I felt comfortable from our first interaction, and felt that he took his time to listen to my wishes as far as the lessons I was expecting. George’s meticulous approach is easy to follow, he didn’t complicate things, nor tried to fit me into a swing type. He just worked with what I have and made it better. George is truly a swing whisperer in my opinion.

I am 69 years old and have been working with my trainer, Craig, for nine years now. At age 60 I couldn't do even one sit up and had little upper body strength. Now I can do sit ups, planks, and have nice muscle tone in my arms. I feel younger and in better shape every year. I have never enjoyed the gym before, and Craig is the main reason I have stayed consistent with my training. He always tailors the session to how I am feeling and what I need - sometimes we just do stretching if my back is hurting. Other times he will push me to add more weight to what I am doing. He really pays attention to his client's needs and goals. Craig works with all ages at my gym and kids up to seniors really like him. Sometimes I really don't feel like working out. But I always look forward to seeing Craig. And I always leave the gym feeling better than when I came. Without Craig motivating me, I know I would never have stuck with this training, and I credit him with helping me to stay in shape and in good health as I age.
