Classical/Musical Theater Voice Lessons
About
I graduated in 2023 from the University of North Texas College of Music with a Master of Music Degree in Voice Performance with a related field in Vocal Pedagogy. I am currently pursuing a Graduate Artist Certificate in Voice Performance at the same institution. This education has given me an extensive understanding of the voice and how to properly teach a student efficiently and healthfully.
I love helping students understand the full potential of their voices. The human voice is extremely complicated and unique to the individual, so working with a student to understand how their voice functions and what it could sound like is so fulfilling. My voice teachers have truly changed my perspective of my voice and my goal is to be able to do that for my own students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For new students, I spend the first lesson speaking to them about their interests and goals, so that I know what kind of repertoire we will be working on. I then have them vocalize so that I have a better understanding of where their voice is at in terms of maturity and technical abilities. I then follow up with them after the lesson with a plan for their lessons including my thoughts on their voice, potential repertoire, and goals we will set together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am about to complete my Master of Music Performance in Voice with a related field in vocal pedagogy at the University of North Texas. I am currently working with Molly Fillmore, who has been seen performing on the world's greatest stages including The Metropolitan Opera, for my own private lessons. I have also studied vocal pedagogy with Dr. Stephen Austin who is one of the most prominent names in the field. The combination of these studies has allowed me to obtain extensive knowledge of the vocal mechanism and methods of teaching.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard rates are $25 for a 30-minute lesson and students are responsible for purchasing all materials including scores.
How did you get started teaching?
I originally began my journey as a musician in the choir at the age of eight and began studying classical voice seriously in college. I soon found a love for teaching private lessons during my first vocal pedagogy course during my undergraduate degree, and then became even more interested when I found that there was a possibility for a related field in vocal pedagogy for my master's degree. I now love helping students learn how to maximize their potential for their voice!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have traditionally worked with students who are in high school or older, but I am open to teaching ages 12 and up.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher with ample education and training in vocal pedagogy. The voice is an extremely fragile mechanism, and if the instructor does not understand how it functions and the proper technique, it can cause issues like fatigue and/or injury. Also, keep in mind that even if you want to work on musical theater, a classical foundation for voice can far improve the quality of your MT singing!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should make sure they have a good understanding of what their individual goals are! Do they have an important audition coming up? Do they want to study voice in college? Do they need help with a piece or role they are working on? How long are they looking to receive voice lessons? What kind of repertoire do they want to focus on? These are some possible questions to think of before hiring a teacher!
