About
With over 10 years of private teaching experience, I am a well-rounded and experienced educator. I push each student to be their personal best, while also building a personal connection with each person to better understand and support them. In addition to focusing on music literacy, technique, and theory, I also emphasize musical independence by utilizing improvisation and composition to allow students to build a musical identity.
There are so many things I love about teaching! Above all, I enjoy watching my students grow into confident musicians, and see the joy on their faces and I demystify music for them, unlocking a whole new world. I also value the terrific working relationships I develop with each of my students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson is all about getting to know you, your background, what your goals are, and how you like to learn. This lesson is also the chance for both student and myself to see if we would be a good fit for each other.
From there, I make a plan going forward, communicate it to the student, and we work towards those goals. I like to explain often WHY we are doing what we are doing, so that the student is involved in the learning process as much as possible.
Periodically, I will have a checkin with the student to make sure we are on the same page and make any tweaks that are necessary.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.M. in Music Education. After graduating, I've worked in public education teaching band, orchestra, and chorus. Now I work as a teaching artist teaching private lessons to students of all ages and abilities.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $32/30 minutes, $48/45 minutes, and $60/60 minutes.
How did you get started teaching?
My musical journey began as soon as I could talk, constantly singing and begging to play the family piano. I started piano lessons at 5, and music has been a part of my life ever since! In high school, I had the opportunity to participate in All-State Honor Orchestra. It was the first time I had ever played with so many musicians at the same time, and it was magical and life-changing. We were performing Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Festival Overture, and I remember the entire orchestra was moving as one unit. That was the moment I knew music would be my lifelong career, and I wanted to share that joy and community with others.
