About
I like to let the student lead and find techical aspects of music in the songs they enjoy. A student is more likely to practice rudimentary things if they can see it's application in their favorite songs!
Teaching is my true passion. Music is secondary. I love watching the look on a students face when they have that break through moment or when they finally get that part they've been practicing so hard for.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I follow a very student led teaching style. A student is much more likely to practice if they are practicing music they enjoy, and with this you find a more "practical" teaching of music...regardless of instrument.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Instructor at Maine Academy of Modern Music
Music performance and Education degree from Wheaton College Massachusetts's.
15+ years of musical study and experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
My usual clientele is ages 8-18 but it's never to late to pick up music!
I have extensive experience working with students with IEPs. I have had many students on the spectrum, students with ADHD and even blind students. Every student is beautifully different and I love coming up with unique lesson plans for new students!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do not settle for a teacher you are simply fine with. I would rather lose a student and have them find an instructor they love and are better off learning from than have someone just coast through lessons with me. Every student and every instructor is different!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What motivates you to practice?
What type of encouragement do you enjoy? (Do you like to be told all the things you did well, or do you receive straight to the point criticism better...etc.)
