About
Hello! I am in the state of Maine! If you are from another state you MUST select online lessons as an option when you contact me or I will have to reject your inquiry. Generally I teach in person / online violin and viola lessons for students ages 7-80 in the greater Bangor area, Maine. I am a multistyle player who teaches classical, five fiddle styles, pop and jazz. I also teach beginner piano to students ages 7 and up, using the Alfred method. I have 35 years experience and am affordable.
Teaching and playing music are the most fun things I do! I love it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Please come in for a trial lesson at the posted individual rate to see if we have chemistry! All levels welcome.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from the Eastman School of Music. I currently teach about 45-60 students a week. I am Principal Viola of the Bangor Symphony and also a coach for their youth orchestra. I've written 150 original pieces of music with my band St. Huckleberry and fiddle for fun!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Current prices are posted on the website but generally run $25 / 1/2 hr and up.
How did you get started teaching?
I don't know, I just always liked helping people play music and I was really good at it apparently, so it grew from there.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children ages 7-18; college level students 18-22; young working adults, 23-64; retired folks, ages 65 and up. I can also handle other abled, learning disabilities, etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Not really sure, there's so much always going on!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try out different teachers to get a good fit for you and don't worry so much about a prestigious "name."
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you willing to commit long term to learning an instrument and work through a process. Music is good for you and fun but a perishable skill, so ongoing effort will be needed.
