I have been a teacher for the past 20 years. I feel that it is important to make learning fun and enjoyable. I also believe in a well rounded learning lesson that includes technic, sighreading, theory and repertoire. My students participate in 2 recitals a year and have the option of entering into the MFMC Federation Festival every year. I tailor each lesson to the individual student.

Susan is an excellent piano teacher! Very patient and encouraging, works on strengthening weak areas, while allowing strengths to shine through. Susan provides opportunities to stretch her students confidence levels (recitals, federation adjudication) and walks through every step of preparation with you. I highly recommend Susan to all experience levels of students and age groups!
The first thing I do with a new student is to get to know them a little better. This helps with the students nervousness and helps me get to know them better. I then discuss how I teach my lessons and what I need in return from the student regarding practicing. I try to find out how much musical knowledge they may already have so I can pick out the correct books for them to get started. I usually bring a few along with me. Each lesson is different depending on the student.

I am always proud of my students during recitals. I love seeing the progress they make!
