JML Piano Lessons
About
As someone currently finding their way through the music world, I can share vauable experiences as well as pass on lessons that have been taught to me over the years. Having studied jazz, I'm experienced in multiple styles of music and have a very creative, open mindset when it comes to playing and composing. I'm a very open, likeable person and feel I can create lasting relationships with students who wish to develop their skills through piano.
I enjoy being able to help other musicians find their own way through the music world. As someone who is currently going through it myself, I like being able to share those experiences with young people as they develop their skills. I also have a strong passion for helping people find joy in learning a new instrument and feeling accomplished that they can express themselves through it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is to first and foremost lay out their passions, interests, and goals of the teaching. I look for ways that I can help them find their own way through their music. Depending on the level of student, I like to structure lessons in a way that develops techinical skills as well as works on finding expression and meaning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm currently pursing a BFA in Jazz Studies from the University of Michigan as have taught various private lessons in past years. I've also held an internship through Wayne State University with focus on experiencing an educational music environment and management.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $45 per hour and $25 per half hour.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with beginning, young aged students as well as highschool/college level students. I've helped students who were just starting as well as ones who wanted to further their skills at a higher level.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
For new students, they should consider where it is they want to end up and who will be best suited to assist them in that journey. They should know their personality and learning styles to be able to find a teacher who is able to maximize their benefits. Find a teacher who willing to work with you to achieve personal goals as opposed to setting ciriculum in stone.
