These are your lessons and you telll us what you want to learn to play and what your goals are. We listen to you. Learn at you own pace, rather it be slow or fast. You will learn how to practice efficiently aiding you in learning your music faster and more successfully. For extra, you may add in music theory, composing, memorizing and/or performing at our student concerts. Plus, you can play two instruments at once. We would be honored to add you to our music lesson family.
We enjoy meeting all our fabulous students and their families while learning about your musical goal and ambitions. It is so exciting to watch our students learn quickly and play their favorite songs while accomplishing their goals. We enjoy keeping up with our students lives as we care so much about everyone. And, even years later, we love to run into our students in public and hear how extremely well their lives are going and hear how much of a positive experience their music lesson experience was at our academy.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We see what exactly they are looking for to accomplish with their music lessons and see if they have any previous experience. If we find they are beginners, we go give more details about what to expect. We see if they have any previous music books, or solos, they want to use or assign new books prior to their first lesson. We want to get our students learning music in their very first lesson rather a beginner or advanced player. We then keep in contact, after their first lesson, to see if they have any questions for their instructor during the week. All our students are able to reach out to their instructor all week long with questions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have been teaching private music lessons since 1983. We've taught band sectionals and clinics at 20 area schools around West Michigan. Studied music performance and music education at three colleges. Regularly keep updated on new trends with social media music groups for teaching strategies and ideas. And, most importantly, our past/present students and parents let us know how we have been doing for over three decades.

All our lessons are the same price for all our students.
How did you get started teaching?
Played a variety of instruments growing up and just loved music. Performed in many music groups. Started music college as a 12th grader in high school (first high schooler in a college music program). I also babysat and enjoyed children so I mixed the love of children with the love of music and got teaching private music lessons. Over 3 decades later, still loving it.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have taught kids as young as 2, elementary age, middle school, high school, college and adults. Our eldest student has been 86 years old.
