About
I have a Piano Performance degree from The University of Michigan. Prominent teachers I have studied with include Maestro Gerald Goslin, Benning Dexter, and Eugene Bossart. I have been teaching piano and violin for 20 years. I do video lessons as well as in-person lessons in my home.
Teaching is my passion because music teaches you how to live. The skills you learn from music instruction carry over into everyday life.
I enjoy helping people grow in character and skills as they apply music principles to their daily lives. It also helps me grow as a teacher and as a person.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In the case of a child, first I establish rapport with the parent with the child present. Then I talk to the child in the parent's presence. I ask questions about school, other activities they may be involved in, and I explain what is required to be a successful musician. I also explain the joys of learning music. If the lessons will be in-person, I ask the child to play something for me on the piano or violin without my judgment. This gives me an indication of their level of achievement if they have previous music lessons. I also discuss potential repertoire.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance, Teaching Certificate in Public School Music, Accompanist for church choirs and Solo & Ensemble students.
I also studied Violin with Emily Mutter Adams of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In college I first studied Music Education/Violin Principal for 2 years and transferred to Piano and eventually received my degree in Piano.
I have performed publicly since high school.
