About
Peter's degrees are in Classical piano music, and he gives his own regular solo recitals. His students perform in an annual student recital as well as other event for school and church. Peter likes to impart a very clear understanding of piano technique to all his students, and he himself has performed such pieces as the Schumann Toccata, Chopin and Liszt Etudes, and Islamey. He is able to teach piano technique to a very young age through college levels.
Peter also regularly performs for special events in jazz, pop, boogie-woogie and blues styles. He is excited about teaching these styles to students who are interested in them. Peter loves to teach improvisation, and has a very structured approach to do this, which includes ear training and theory. He also trains students in sight-singing (solfeggio) if so desired. Because of Peter's extensive performing experience as a church music director, he is the perfect choice for people wanting vocal coaching in order to sing and play at the same time ! His many years of performing liturgical music also qualifies Peter to teach organ and basic conducting skills as well.
