MIKE'S MARTIAL ARTS

Mike's Martial Arts, LLC began in late 2018 as an outreach to the community to teach an Americanized form of karate as a vehicle to share the good news of the grace of God to the community as the opportunity presents itself. And Warren Grace Bible Church has kindly and graciously allowed us to use their facility to do so. Our karate class size is small, personal, and friendly; it might "feel" a bit like a one-on-one teaching atmosphere even though it's a group. Our goal is to make you feel at home and encouraged in your new endeavor. Sometimes the hardest part of karate is just taking that first step to try it! It sure brightens my day when ...

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do karate classes cost?

Karate classes cost $100 to $150+ per month on average. Prices depend on the class size, student's age, location, and number of classes per week included in the membership plan. Classes held at community centers typically cost less than those held in professional dojos. Private karate lessons cost $40 to $80 per hour and are tailored to your needs and skill level.

In addition to the class fee, you'll have extra costs for uniforms, belts, and testing fees. A karate uniform—also called a Gi, karategi, or dogi—costs $60 to $120 on average, while belts cost $5 to $20. Some schools include a gi and belt with your first month's tuition. Testing fees vary by school, but beware of schools that charge more than $20 per test.

Where to find karate classes near me?

  • Look for a reputable dojo that focuses on karate rather than a mixed martial arts gym.
  • Research the instructors' competition record and reputation.
  • Read dojo and instructor reviews on Lessons and Google.
  • Confirm the school offers classes for your experience level.
  • Visit the dojo in person to confirm it is clean and well-maintained and the staff is professional.
  • Take advantage of their free trial class to ensure the school is a good fit for you.
  • Get a copy of the membership contract in writing before making any payments.

What questions should I ask karate schools before joining?

I needed to train for a triathlon. One mile swim. I trained with Chris 2 days a week and I was ready for the race. I came in 3rd place at Escape the Cape triathlon. Chris got me swim ready with challenging workouts in the pool, excellent coaching tips, gave me the tools I needed to swim freestyle efficiently. I became faster, stronger and my endurance was amazing after weeks of training. I highly recommend Chris for your swimming lessons no matter what level you are.

I am a Teacher's Assistant working with Autistic students and I love to study Martial Arts when I'm not working in school. I find Gehrik Mohr to be one of the best instructors I've had in a while. He understands what is important in Martial Arts and is able to adapt to the students level to work from where they are at. He pays attention to details making sure students learn the fundamentals first before working toward harder stuff as to avoid injury and ensure the students are learning properly. There is also a large focus on self discipline and etiquette which is both very powerful for people to learn, particularly children, but also something I have seen skipped in other systems. The classes can also be fun at times, with us training in the park or being given interesting challenges for the day. I have been to several schools and styles of Martial Arts and I have found no better place to train in the area than at Kuk Sool Won Madison Heights under Gehrik Mohr. I would suggest his classes to anyone interested in Martial Arts or Fitness in general. I also highly suggest this for any parents who want their child to learn self control, etiquette, and a plethora of other skills useful in school and at home.

Fit Sis Fitness made every workout fun but challenging. I was doing exercises I have never done before. So she definitely challenged my muscles in different ways. She had me lifting my maximum in every lift, and that was after only 6 weeks. She is awesome to work with. No one will be disappointed with the results, 100% satisfaction guaranteed!!!
