About

I believe anyone can learn to play an instrument with the proper guidance. I show students HOW to practice, so they can surmount obstacles again and again and rise to new heights. I teach students of all ages, from the very young to the retiree. I am patient, encouraging and enjoy helping students achieve their goals; whether it be playing for church, a nursing home, an orchestra or just for fun and their own enjoyment. Lessons are tailored around the music you love, from classical, folk, gospel/hymns, pop and country.

TEACHER'S MAIN OBJECTIVE: My heart's goal is to bring out the full potential in each student. My desire is to train students to excel in their God-given talents by equipping them with the tools they need to embrace a life-long passion for Music!

PRIVATE LESSONS: Assignments are given according to student's abilities, while emphasizing technique, and tonal development. Lessons are taught in a positive non-threatening environment.

For some, to play an instrument has been a life long dream! Have fun exploring the instrument, hearing the changes and finding out all you can be. Music is a wonderful tool of enjoyment and discovery.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE: Detroit Symphony, Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Windsor Symphony, Michigan Chamber Orchestra,

TEACHING EXPERIENCE: Ward School Of Sacred Arts, Oakland Academy Of Music.

Sharon has the patience to teach me - a technical-minded, perfectionist adult - how to play the violin. Additionally, Sharon was able to quickly diagnose and remedy an ill-fitting set up. This teacher goes the extra mile to assist her students of all ages, capabilities and levels.

From my very first interaction with Sharon (and continuously at every lesson) she has been so attentive to my strengths and weaknesses. She encourages my improvements while still challenging me in areas I need more work. She is extremely kind and very knowledgeable in her field. She is very patient as I’m learning, and I never have felt rushed...the time with her student is a priority and valuable to her and it shows. It is very obvious to me Sharon loves what she does...and she’s excellent at it.

Sharon is a phenomenal musician. Her passion for her art resonates through her instruction: she is patient, encouraging and honest in pointing out strengths and areas for growth. Her technical skills are top-notch. Our daughter always looked forward to her lessons, and grew to love the violin in large part to Sharon’s instruction.

My daughter has thrived with Sharon as her music teacher. Sharon’s style is a combination of compassion and very high standards. She pushes my daughter to excel, but my daughter adores her and looks forward to her weekly lessons.

    Frequently asked questions

For piano I highly recommend the Alfred books. For violin I use the Mark O'conner method, and for the very young students ages 3-8 I use a modified Suzuki method until they are able to read music.

Weeky lessons are a must. Two weeks between lessons is just enough time for bad habits to form in the technique, which is why I teach weekly lessons.

Graduate of the Cleveland Institute Of Music.

Performed with the Detroit Symphony, Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra and the Toledo Symphony.

My high school orchestra teacher asked me to work with a few students that needed extra help. I thoroughly enjoyed tutoring!

I have worked with students as young as three and adult retirees. I have also worked with special needs children.

Not every teacher is the right fit for every student, that's why I advise every student to try a one month trial period before deciding if the teacher is the right one for you.

How much practice time can I commit?

Do I need a day or eveing lesson time?

Can I afford to purchase a digital keyboard if I don't have a piano?
