About
I believe anyone can learn to play an instrument with the proper guidance. I show students HOW to practice, so they can surmount obstacles again and again and rise to new heights. I teach students of all ages, from the very young to the retiree. I am patient, encouraging and enjoy helping students achieve their goals; whether it be playing for church, a nursing home, an orchestra or just for fun and their own enjoyment. Lessons are tailored around the music you love, from classical, folk, gospel/hymns, pop and country.
TEACHER'S MAIN OBJECTIVE: My heart's goal is to bring out the full potential in each student. My desire is to train students to excel in their God-given talents by equipping them with the tools they need to embrace a life-long passion for Music!
PRIVATE LESSONS: Assignments are given according to student's abilities, while emphasizing technique, and tonal development. Lessons are taught in a positive non-threatening environment.
For some, to play an instrument has been a life long dream! Have fun exploring the instrument, hearing the changes and finding out all you can be. Music is a wonderful tool of enjoyment and discovery.
PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE: Detroit Symphony, Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Windsor Symphony, Michigan Chamber Orchestra,
TEACHING EXPERIENCE: Ward School Of Sacred Arts, Oakland Academy Of Music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For piano I highly recommend the Alfred books. For violin I use the Mark O'conner method, and for the very young students ages 3-8 I use a modified Suzuki method until they are able to read music.
Weeky lessons are a must. Two weeks between lessons is just enough time for bad habits to form in the technique, which is why I teach weekly lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graduate of the Cleveland Institute Of Music.
Performed with the Detroit Symphony, Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra and the Toledo Symphony.
How did you get started teaching?
My high school orchestra teacher asked me to work with a few students that needed extra help. I thoroughly enjoyed tutoring!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as three and adult retirees. I have also worked with special needs children.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Not every teacher is the right fit for every student, that's why I advise every student to try a one month trial period before deciding if the teacher is the right one for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much practice time can I commit?
Do I need a day or eveing lesson time?
Can I afford to purchase a digital keyboard if I don't have a piano?
