    Frequently asked questions

I offer a FREE 20 minute consultation via Google Meet to talk with you personally and assess your experience and understand your goals. Then you are placed into the correct level and curriculum to achieve your goals in the shortest length of time.
I attended Grand Valley State University from 1992-1996 and graduated with a Bachelor's of Music Education along with certification for K-12 music. Then, I graduated from Oakland University in 2007 with a Master's of Music Education where I completed a Thesis based on the best ways to motivate students to learn music.
I meet with students weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Lessons can take place at the students' home, my home, or on Google Meet. Fee schedule is set based on time and frequency of lessons.
I started teaching piano when I was still in high school! I was always involved in church music, playing the piano, and taking dance lessons. It was natural to share what I was learning with us. After a summer at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, I was sold on teaching music as my career and lifelong goal.
I teach students of all ages-parent/tot classes, K-6th general music and piano lessons, beginning band and choir, worship bands/praise teams, adult choirs, and adult piano and voice students.
I am teaching a beginning band of 7 6th graders. To take this group of beginning musicians and lead them step by step from choosing an instrument to becoming proficient has been my highlight of the school year. These students often miss recess to hang out in my classroom and practice their instrument or even to learn another instrument!
Find a teacher that you can relate to, that you can be yourself and be free to make mistakes without being judged.
    1. Ask about their curriculum and be sure it is interesting for you and not boring! 2. Ask about the time frame, how long it will take to achieve your goals so that you have clear expectations and are not disappointed. 3. Make sure that you can work at your own pace.
