I am a full time trainer at a large state agency. I have been training people in the self defense and combatives realm for over a decade. I have trained, officers, teachers, girl scouts, high school students, sherrifs deputies and private citizens in all manner of conflict management from verbal communication to firearms and everything in between. I offer classes in person for groups to individuals. I hold multiple instructor certifications in subjects such as firearms fundamentals to realistic de escalation.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start with the basics. My goal is to teach simple, teachable skills that can give them the peace of mind to feel empowered In a violent encounter.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
15 years instructing experience in a armed state agency. Many violent encounters with real world dangerous predators. Multiple instructor credentials including concealed carry and home defense and realistic de-escalation.

I started teaching after becoming an instructor in my agency. I then moved on into teaching civilians and other agencies in seminars

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Please make sure that your instructor has knowledge and experience with actual violence and can show credentials upon request. I can.
There are many instructors in the self defense world, especially in firearms, that pay for a two day instructor course and become ccw instructors.
Ask what courses your instructor has taken, and also, what TEACHING courses has the instructor taken.
