I took lessons from the nuns for 13 years and learned how to read music. Until I took 9 more years of jazz did I learn the structure of music? My last two students can play without sheet music at all 28 different songs better the written on the page composition without any sheet music at all although they were taught with sheet music. 2 years of lessons. This was unexpected on my part but the last student played at a nursing home with the billing of a child protégée 22 songs without music like Sound of Music, Blue Moon, and Autumn Leaves etc.
My method of teaching is exceeding superior to the traditional piano lessons.
It puts joy in my heart to see someone who has never played really played a piano before and to have the opportunity to experience the evolution of a student from a eager attitude to a concert pianist.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1. You will learn how to make your hands obey you. I.e., Left hand independent from Right hand
2. You will learn how notes on a page coordinate with the notes on music melody note only including exercises.
3. You will learn the structure of a cord, how it relates to the melody, how variances like sevenths, augments, minors, sixths etc work to make cords deeper and more robust.
4. Your first song will be The Sound Of Music where you will learn how to play it at least 10 time better than the full sheet music composition. You will learn how to read only the melody note and how to use the cords over the melody note to play the song far beyond your expectations.
5. How to match the accompaniment with the song For example the accompaniment to "IF I Were a Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof is accompanied different than Sound of Music.
6. Learn how to play Great songs better than the original artist: say fleur de lis by Beethoven
7. Difficult accompaniments like for Blue Moon or Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
Within 2 years you will be able to do all of the above, I will be Jesus to you.
