Piano Lab

About

I offer a unique, engaging LAB format for piano lessons that allows students to reduce their anxiety and build confidence at the piano! Lessons at Piano Lab are 55 minutes long, and students have time to learn all of their songs during the lesson. Lessons include variety of activities from guided playing and practicing, to writing in theory books and reviewing concepts with fun iPad apps. Students love coming here!

My favorite part of my job is seeing students become excited about their learning, and helping them fulfill their curiosity about piano. I love helping students learn songs that they want to play, and seeing them play the songs independently. Recitals are lots of fun too!

    Frequently asked questions

To join the studio or be placed on a waiting list, students must first come in for an introductory lesson.

In this first lesson, beginning students learn 4-6 songs within the first 15 minutes!

Transfer students have a chance to play any songs for me and show off their sight-reading skills while I assess their level.

It's very exciting for new students to see how easy learning the piano can be!

I work with students ages 7-15.

With that said, my piano studio is perfect for students who are a little bit shy, and perhaps have some struggles with anxiety or nervousness. I love working with kids who feel awkward or unsure of themselves, and watching their confidence grow at the piano. My biggest goal is to make students feel welcome, supported, and affirmed as they discover skills they never knew they had.

I would tell a student to ask the teacher what they do to help students feel excited about piano!

If a teacher is spending most of the time talking about policies and their own credentials, that raises a red flag. Look for a teacher who is excited to learn more about what the student's needs and goals are, and how they can help students build confidence at the piano!

Think about what kinds of songs you would like to play! Tell the teacher any goals you have with piano.

Also make sure to tell the teacher if you have a piano at home, and what your availability is to practice. Some teachers require a certain amount of practice each week, while others are more flexible and excited to help students move at their own pace!
