Music Lessons With Emily Curran

Hello!

Thank you for viewing my profile. I am a musician and music educator working in the Twin Cities and I would love to share my passion for music with you. I enjoy exploring the many facets of music-making: performing, creating music, listening to and participating in a wide variety of music styles, and attending live music events. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education as well as a Bachelor of Arts in French Studies from the University of Minnesota. I am a performing percussionist, specializing in orchestral percussion as well as hand drumming. In addition to percussion, I have also taught piano and band instrument lessons for 6 years.

I have two years of experience as a music teacher in the public school system and I am currently working for a non-profit musical arts organization; I love the challenge and satisfaction of helping to provide accessible, high-quality music to the community.

We are lucky to live in such a rich environment for music and arts as the Twin Cities. I believe it is important to engage with our community by learning about the various musical cultures from which we can find a deep sense of community. I enjoy connecting my students' musical backgrounds and interests with their learning in lessons, which I believe has profound implications on students' enjoyment of their learning and their feeling of self-empowerment.
