Sensei Combo is a very energetic teacher with a lifetime of experience. The studio is very well put together and the spring loaded floor is top notch. Sensei Combo is also extremely good teaching children, including my daughter. He instills discipline without being commanding.

I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in learning personal self defense. The instructors and students work very well together to maximize learning regardless of age, gender, or any physical limitations. Sensei Combo is especially good at balancing the serious side of what you are training with keeping the training enjoyable.
In regard to the facilities, I really appreciate the spring floor in the training area which is very rare to find in a school. Part of the curriculum includes learning to throw people, as well as, learning to fall safely when thrown. A fall could also be from simply slipping on an icy sidewalk. It is much easier to perform the repetitions needed to master this part of the curriculum when the spring floor absorbs some of the impact on the body.

This is a traditional, non-competitive Martial Arts organization that is teaching practical Jujutsu Self Defense techniques. We come together, train together, help each other, but dont fight each other. Senior students offer their help to new students or older students with reduced physical abilities without any hesitation. There’s never a sense of “I’m better than you”, but always “how can I help you?”.
For me, Shoshin Ryu became a second family. I hope we can welcome your into this family, as well.
