I am a twin-cities based cellist and private lessons teacher. I have been teaching in Minneapolis for 3 years, and began teacher assistance and training as a teenager.
Originally from Milwaukee, my upbringing was heavily classical, playing in youth symphonies since I was 8 years old and continuous chamber work since I was 13. I have bachelors of music in cello performance from Lawrence University (Appleton, WI). There, I began my journey towards improvization in jazz and avant garde. I moved to Minneapolis after graduation and began playing with bands ranging from indie rock, Americana, hip hop, Irish fiddle and bluegrass. I am currently a member of a Minnesota jamgrass band, Useful Jenkins.
I offer private music lessons on cello and violin for beginners to advanced students, including beginner adults. My primary instrument is cello, but started on violin as a child. I also provide lessons that focus on bluegrass and fiddle styles on violin and cello, as well as improvization chord reading, and transcription lessons in a range of genres and styles. BASS PLAYERS! Are you a seasoned bassist who wants additional instruction using a bow? I can help! I have taught bow techniaue to bass players who originally learned on electric and are now expanding to upright and bowing due to the needs of their band. I can provide a small package of lessons specifically for bow technique for bass players.
I love music! I love seeing the progress and happiness in students when they finally succeed at something that used to be difficult.
