About
I'm a loving-music, passionate, and creative teacher, who enjoys to nurture the same in my students, help them to evolve and develop the musical taste for more fulfilled life. In 1993, I graduated from South-Ukrainian National Pedagogical University with Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Pedagogy. I worked as an accompanist, producer and piano/vocal teacher in schools, Children Creative centers, Musical Theater.
While learning piano at University, I began to teach students in my home studio. Working in Musical theater, I've gained experience teaching piano and voice, accompanying to ballet classes and theatrical plays.
Currently, I'm a member of Minneapolis Music Teacher Forum. My students participate in award and honor recital through the year. I have taught piano and voice lessons for over 30 years.
I choose the books according to my assessment of the student during the first lesson. The Faber Method is one of the more popular ones. I also use the Alfred All-in-book series. As a supplemental material, I use Keynote Speller by Shaum, Line a Day sight reading by Bastien, and etudes by Keith Snell. For solo repertoire, I select methods based on the skills and favorite pieces of each student. Lately, I've started to use with students iPad applications for sight reading.
I encourage my students to include the music in their everyday schedule. They also receive assignments to compose musical questions and answers, transpose melodies, as well as listen to recordings. I use duets and play by myself to inspire their imagination. I also recommend attending local music performances to help develop student's ears and form their music tastes.
