Individualized lessons for serious students, intermediate thru advanced level, who want to play more than just the notes--play the music, and Beautifully!

All lessons taught over Zoom.

Lessons will cover basics such as developing a practice routine, ergonomic posture hints, developing a beautiful & expressive bow technique, secrets of awesome intonation, how to be totally comfortable with your instrument on your shoulder, how to optimize every minute of your practice time, how to play those seemingly impossible passages, sight-reading, and getting ready for school & youth symphony auditions.

Cheryl Zylla is a professional violin & viola performer, member Local 30-73 American Federation of Musicians. Performing groups include Bach Society, Lyra Baroque, La Grande Bande, Bach Roots Festival Orchestra, and multiple Midwest area professional chamber music ensembles. Her music education began in the public schools, continued with GTCYS, MacPhail Center for Music, Northwestern University, University of Minnesota, with additional seminars at Oberlin College, Boston Baroque Performance Institute, Vancouver Early Music Festival, and violin/viola pedagogy with Mimi Zweig at U-WI Milwaukee.

Teaching via Zoom allows both teacher & student the ability to avoid traffic congestion & weather issues, and saves gas/carbon emissions. The lesson times are observed more closely which helps keep everyone on schedule. Students seem more focused and parents are able to watch the lesson from the comfort of their own home!
