About

My studio offers hour lessons for students to get a well rounded foundation to their musical studies. Students spend private one-on-one time with the teacher and the balance of the hour in the Learning Lab. The lab offers a teaching assistant that guides the learning of composers, learning rhythm using cups, technical exercises, composing and more! Students really enjoy their time and can't believe the hour has already gone by!

I love watching the progress that my students make. As a teacher, I want to challenge my students, but not overwhelm them. I want my students to be successful, so I am patient and I encourage them through the ups and downs of learning.

On the first lesson time was spent discovering what the student knew already and what his current skills set is. She has a positive attitude and listens well to the students questions and comments.

Frequently asked questions

I don't have a set way or formula as each student is different.  I make the lesson and the learning fit the student.

I have had college courses; but, truthfully, none of my students have read those books and know the "text book way to act during lessons"!  It has been the 30+ years of teaching that has given me the insights and experience that I use to teach each individual that takes lessons.

Pricing is based on what type of lesson you are taking.  I do offer a second family member at half price to keep music affordable to families.

I wanted to be a piano teacher and so I asked my piano teacher if she could show me how.  She took me under her wing and mentored me with my first students.  She gave me more insight than I learned in college because of being a piano teacher herself with experience.

I have work with preschooler's to retired adults.  I have worked with students with autism and mild retardation.  I have taught one-on-one, group and music in school.

Currently I am excited about the Learning Lab that I've been able to add to my studio.  I've been frustrated that I wanted my students to learn more and I didn't have time to do that.  The lab now gives that opportunit!

When you start with a new teacher, please stick with the lessons.  There will always be ups and downs, but at the end of the year it is worth it.  Keep the lines of communication open between yourself and the teacher also helps.

Parents should realize that students need the guidance and interaction of the parent at home in between lessons.  Students don't know how to practice their lessons and or they lose focus and need an adult to help them stay on track.  If there is not good practicing at home, the student will not progress.  If they don't progress, they get frustrated.  If they get frustrated, they'll want to quit.
