Elizabeth Haynes Piano And Violin Teacher

I teach beginning through intermediate.  My process of working with a student is to take cues from them of how much they can handle, how fast they can go, and how well they are learning theory as well as their other books.  I go at the students pace while making it fun and relaxing.

I started violin lessons at age five with my father who was in the Utah symphony and also a national old time fiddler who would go to Weiser Idaho to compete, so I've had classical and fiddling training.  I started piano when I was six with my grandma who was a composer of music as well as an accomplished pianist.  I went on to work with other teachers that were advanced as I became advanced.

I charge $20.00 for 1/2 hour, or $40.00 an hour.  This pays for a students time slot and is due at the first of the month.  If a student needs to reschedule a lesson they can do so.

I use to live in Washington state and a person whom worked at Helmer's music store heard me play and wanted me to give lessons at their music store.  I started giving lessons 25 years ago.

I work with students that want to have fun while they learn.  They want to make goals, and enjoy seeing their progress.  I had a great life with performing, composing, and teaching music, I would like to pay that forward so that students enjoy learning. 

It is hard to pick one.  I have to say that I loved the most going to local concerts where I and other composers in the area would perform.  I got great feedback and I enjoyed listening to others perform their compositions.

What do you want?  Do you want a demanding teacher with high expectations because you have high expectations of yourself?  Are you looking for strictly classical?  Does a teacher who expects you to practice but is more flexible and patient with you sound more comfortable to you.  What pratice time can you give each day to your instrument?  Do you want a 1/2 hour lesson or an hour lesson?  I expect my students to practice but I realize from how I grew up that some weeks were better than others so I appreciated a teacher who was flexible and worked with me when I wasn't as prepared some weeks than others.  I am that type of teacher who also believes in helping students enjoy themselves as well as making and keeping goals.  I do expect my students to progress but I'm hoping they'll want to also.

How much time can they pratice.  How far do they want to progress.  what type of a teacher would they be comfortable with.  Do they want a strict, advanced teacher?  Would they like a teacher better suited for beginners?  Do they want to work with a female teacher or a male teacher or does that matter?  Do they want to work with classical only or branch out into other fields of music?
