Listening House Studios believes in high standards and goals, but we also make the lessons fun. We specialize in students who are "challenging" for other teachers, or creative, or outside-the-box thinkers. We start kids and adults playing exciting songs at the very first lesson, and all our sessions are fast-paced. To give a preview, we also offer a no-cost consultation, where we explain our unique studio and our approach to some of the most interesting piano lessons ever.
Rhonda Barfield, founder, has a degree in Music Education plus four years of graduate piano lessons. Though classically trained, she has successfully taught hundreds of students for two decades, first at Truman State University's Preparatory Program, then at Beverly Milder's Yamaha Music School, and now in her home studio in historic St. Charles.
Everything-- but especially watching a light bulb go on when a student "gets" a concept. Seeing autistic children gain a skill that helps them manage their frustration. Helping adults find an outlet. Watching students play piano flawlessly at a recital, when only months earlier they were terrified of performing. Teaching them all to love and appreciate music.
