About
I am a Masters Degree educator that teaches applied piano and music theory to children 5-17, and assist adults that want to experience and explore their creative side. AWS Studio creates curriculum that challenges students and emphasizes parental involvement as a key component to students' achievement. Parents receive immediate feedback after every lesson about student success and weekly assignments.
Professionally, I'm also a music director, composer, orchestral arranger. I have been teaching private instruction since 2002, and profoundly enjoy watching the enhancement of young people's lives as they experience the world of music.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It is important to meet and converse with parent and potential student prior to onset of music instruction; obtain knowledge concerning their age, grade level, any prior music instruction, instrument in home, do they have natural musical interests...why music instruction is being pursued. I have found in this initial conversation, establishing a positive verbal rapport with student is essential to their enthusiasm about their instruction.
I review student expectation, how a typical lesson would start, proceed and end, books that will be needed and where to purchase materials.
