Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1) Do you have an instrument for home practice?
Having a maintained instrument in the home is essential for enrollment in weekly individual lessons.
Call us: We have recommendations for purchase or rental if you do not!
We have programming in-studio for our friends waiting to be matched with their perfect instrument!
2) Let us get to know you!
Each student is an individual. Materials (i.e. books and music learned) are thoughtfully selected for individual learning styles. To ensure the best fit and desirable results, we may ask age, grade, student interests, previous experience.
3) Get to know us!
When you sign up for lessons, there's a dedicated team of teachers to accommodate scheduling weekly 1:1 lessons. You'll be matched with instructors by your request, our recommendation, and/or to accommodate scheduling.
Our team both leads and collaborates on in-studio workshops and recitals. And at these gatherings, we sometimes have cake 😉.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our core team of teachers has a combined total of over 100 years music-making experience. Each began as students around age 4.
Most all of our teaching artists, as well as visiting musicians who lead various workshops and programming, possess undergraduate and graduate degrees in the music field. We maintain our growth by performing regularly and continue our professional development by routinely attending music/teacher workshops.
To quote Alum/parent: M Strong Studio instructors "bring zest for the instrument, terrific interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire."
What types of students have you worked with?
We have a dedicated program, individual/group lessons, for grades PreK-1.
Our grades 2-12 grow as beginner, intermediate, and advanced artists with a strong musical repertoire. Foundations are established through the practice and performance of music from 16th century to music today!
Adults, too, have learned or returned to music with M Strong Studio.
